Skylander Cookies

A friend asked if I would make Skylander cookies. My response... "what is a Skylander?" I guess I'm not up on such things. So I did my research and learned way more than anyone should ever know about the Skylander Giants. And then I made lots of cookies.
I made all the Skylander elements. I figured those wouldn't be too difficult. I made them on huge 4.5" inch scalloped circles so because of the size, they took quite a bit of time to decorate them all, not to mention making the many different colors of icing.
Fire element
 Tech element
Life element
Water element
 Air element
 Magic element
 Earth element
 Undead element
I started by flooding each large cookie with the designated color from that element using my yummy homemade glaze icing
Then I outlined each design of the element that coordinated with the color of the element. Sorry about the green over this picture, I don't know why it is like that.
and then I filled the white area of each design with icing. It was nice to see them come together.
After they were all done and dry, I bagged each cookie and added a personalized cookie tag.
I decided to also try my hand at a few of the Skylander Giants. I was a bit scared as the Giants are so very detailed, but I was very excited with how they came out.
 Chill
 Stealth Elf
 Chop-Chop
 Hot Dog
 Skylander Giants Logo
and the group of the Skylander cookies
The world of Skylanders is built up from eight elements. Fire, Tech, Life, Water, Air, Magic, Earth and Undead. Each Skylander is associated with one of these elements. I guess it's a pretty popular game.

  3. I need to order some for my son's birthday coming up on July 27th. Can I order them? Question, how did you get a skylanders stencil to trace on the cookies?

    1. Hi Anonymous, I don't take orders through this venue. If you'd like to click that pink contact me button on the right side of the blog or the tab at the top that says contact me or my email address at the top right side of my blog under my picture, I can send you a referral of a cookie decorator in your area that can help with your request. Writing an anonymous comment on the blog, doesn't tell me where you are located, when you want cookies, how many cookies and so on. Thanks, Cristin

    2. At this time, I do not ship cookie orders. Our new California Cottage Food Law does not allow for shipping. They are expected to change that part of the law in January 2014, but in the meantime, I'm more than happy to send a referral of a cookie decorator closer to you.

  4. Hi Cristin
I'm teaching myself cookie decorations and want to surprise my friends son at his birthday.
How do you flood the cookies without using a fill line like you do with the white flooding for the symbols?
Also.. how long do your skylander cookies last? do you think would they be ok to make 4 days in advance?

    1. Hi Anonymous ;-) For the white symbols, I still outlined the design and let it sit for just a bit and then I filled the area with white. Depending on your icing, if you don't outline first, it can run and be messy looking. If you use a very stiff icing, then you wouldn't need to outline, but then you'd have trouble making the design look smooth. I heat seal all my cookies and I say about 3 weeks, but I've heard of people eating them 3 months later and they say they are still fresh. I think fresh is best, so after your cookies are dry, I would bag them (even if it's just ziploc baggies)to keep them fresh and moist. Either way, 4 days will be perfectly fine for sure. Have fun!

    1. Hi Angela, The Skylander Elements cookies are actually quite easy, just the simple white design on a colored icing cookie. The characters were very difficult and time consuming though. I used a Kopykake projector to show the design on a cookie and then decorated it that way. Have fun!

    1. I've sent you an email Maribel. If possible please delete your comment as it's really not a good idea to provide your email address on a webpage that is a public forum for all to see.... thanks! Cristin

    1. Hi Maria, I flood the Skylanders cookies in the base color and let that dry overnight and then the next day, I outline the logo in white using my KopyKake Projector and let that set and then fill in with white. It's a relatively easy design. The long part of these cookies is making the 8 different flood colors. I hope this helps.
