I made a whole bunch of baseball cookies for a friend recently including all the regular baseballs, mitts, caps and so on, but then she also wanted hot dogs, sodas, popcorn and... PRETZELS. Of course you have to have a pretzel at a baseball game! The only problem is that I didn't have a pretzel cookie cutter and the only ones I've seen were really tiny. So I hand-drew a pretzel onto a rectangle cookie. It was okay, but I knew I could do better. So fast forward to now and I made myself a pretzel cookie cutter. I think it's quite a necessity. Yep, I do.
You can get your very own pretzel cookie cutter too in my Etsy shop.
I started by outlining my design. You can right click on this picture and save it to use for your design too.
While the icing was still wet, I added white jimmy candies. I think that's what they're called. First I went and bought coarse white candy crystals (bigger than sanding sugar), but they sunk right into the icing and didn't give the look I was hoping for. So I went back to the store and found these white jimmies. They really gave the look of salt that I wanted.
and then I made a whole bunch of pretzel cookies.
I'm very happy with how they turned out. Don't they look DELISH! Well, yep, they are! :-)
And then I bought some fun pretzel digital paper and made a pretzel blog background. Because you know, it's really important that everything matches ... at least in my twisted mind ;-) Unfortunately Photobucket and I are not getting along today and it is showing my background tiny for some reason.
Pretzel blog background for today:
