Bubbles for Summer Fun and 5,000 Fan GIVE-AWAY Celebration

Remember when your kids were little and cute and played all the time with no concerns? Remember how they blew bubbles into the summer breeze and life was easy and carefree? Yaa me too. So when my youngest came home for the summer from his first year away at college, I threw him a welcome home party. I thought about all the different fun possibilities of cookies and decided on BUBBLES. Feeling a little nostalgic huh ...

I made a set of cookie cutters for this fun project. A bottle of bubbles, a bubble wand, and a couple of different bubbles. I've had a lot of people ask me for this cookie cutter set and I've finally made it available for you too. You can get the cookie cutters for this bubble blowing set HERE

The top is filled in with purple because I almost forgot to get a photo of these cookies outlined for you. As always, you can right click on the photo and save it to use for your own use in decorating your cookies.

I had A LOT of fun with this set and it was really fun to package the set all together in one cookie bag.

I made some cookie tags for you too (without Cristin's Cookies on it). You can download them for your own use here or by clicking on the photo below.

Nick is a really well adjusted and responsible kid, but he faced his share of challenges away at his first year of college. Nick got Mono and was horribly sick for a couple months, even losing almost 30 pounds during finals. His roommate was expelled and Nick was alone for half the school year. Nick has to pay 1/3 of his tuition (our choice to make sure he is personally invested in his education) and one of his classes turned out to be too difficult to handle with Mono and he had to re-take the class. Did you know that we learn and grow the most when life gives us challenges to overcome?
But there were lots of positives too. Nick learned that he was exactly right at choosing his major because he absolutely loves his Engineering classes and is in the top 10% of the class. He learned how to juggle school work, new friends, extra curricular activities and a long distance girlfriend. And his mom got really good at Skype when she was missing her baby boy ;-)
So for my Nicky, bubble blowing cookies were a fun choice for his welcome home cookies.
Last week my little Cristin's Cookies Facebook page hit the very exciting mark of having 5,000 fans! I am so incredibly honored that 5,000 of you want to see my cookies and enjoy my ramblings. I appreciate each of you so very much. I love to make cookies and new designs and it's so much more fun having you join me on this journey! So I'm doing a give-away. Go to this Rafflecopter app to access the give-away for 3 free cookie cutters OR 8 Cristin's large COOKIES. I haven't had any extra cookies all summer because you know, that boy is home from college ;-) but I promise to hide a few of them just for the give-away winner.

I hope you're all enjoying your summer and time with your children. It all goes so very fast.

Summer Fun Sand Buckets and Cookie Cutter

I made these cookies for Valentines Day "I Dig You" sand buckets. One of my wonderful cookie cutter customers asked if I would provide the outline of how I decorated them, so a few days ago, I made a couple more with my last batch of decorated cookies. The sand bucket cookies are perfect for summer. Another one of my cookie cutter customers even bought 12 of these sand bucket cookie cutters to give out to her cookie decorating friends! I bet you wish you were close buddies with her!

I started by making a sand bucket cookie cutter. And you know me, I wanted to make it extra fun, so I added lots of fun details. You can get the sand bucket cookie cutter here in my Etsy shop.
Then I outlined the design. You can right click on this photo to save it to your desktop for your own use too. You can add the handle to the pail later after it's decorated or now like I did on this one.
and here's the final product that I made for Valentines Day
and the one I made a couple days ago with colors that I had for a different project. On both designs, I used a light tan/brown color for the sand and then I added white sanding sugar for the glistening effect.
This is what they looked like all packaged up for Valentines Day.
and Abigail enjoying the summer. I can't believe she is going to turn 1 already in just 16 days! This year has flown by!
Once I got my orders filled, I was able to fit in a bike ride. I didn't have much time, so I made it a productive ride. Only 20 miles, but it had almost 2,000 feet of climbing!  So with all the energy that comes with a work-out, now I'm off to go bake some cookies. I received a message from a customer saying that she let me have a break after how busy I was in May and June, but now she really wants cookies! I have a GREAT idea of what I'm going to make for her. I'm SO excited!

Number 50 Cookies and a New Cookie Cutter

I have had my beautiful pink bicycle since August 1st, 2006. During those almost 7 years, I've asked, no begged, my husband to get a bicycle and ride with me. But no. He had absolutely no interest in cycling...for seven years. Since I got my bicycle, I've put just under 30,000 miles on that pretty pink bike. Yes, 30k miles in 7 years. I love cycling.

A friend of my husband's told him that he should get a bike. So he bought a bike. What?! Hmm. I know where I rank. Fine. So he bought himself a bicycle. The first day that he got the bike, he set up a bike ride. With his wife? Um, no. With his friend. That's ok. I'm still excited he finally got a bike. He went with the guys and went up and down dirt trails and jumped off sidewalks and acted like he was 7. Oh did I mention that my husband is 51 years old?

The first few rides that hubby and I have gone on, he yelled to me "I don't want to go too far". I know dear. "I don't want to climb too much". I know dear. Then about the third or fourth ride, he figured out that I wasn't going to make him ride a gazillion miles or climb anything that he wasn't ready for. He has even said "I want to go climb this or that" and my response "you're not ready for that one yet". So now he trusts me and we're having a great time. We've only done a handful of rides so far and yesterday's ride we finally got past the 7-mile mark with 500 feet of climbing.

Today he decided he wants to buy another, even more expensive bike because he "loves cyling". My response? "Um, NO". But I worded it nicely as "you're not ready yet dear". ;-)

A customer asked me to make number 50 cookies for her 50th birthday party. Since hubby is just over 50, I thought I'd share our newest adventure into cycling together along with these fun 50 cookies.

I made this 50 cookie cutter and it includes a center for the 0. I used the center piece just as an impression on my dough instead of cutting out the hole. You can get your very own 50 cookie cutter HERE

Here's the tutorial picture for your use (just right click on the photo and save it) or download the tutorial card at the top of this post
I made lots of the 50 number cookies
50's with swirls
 50's with dots
50's with stripes
 50's with camo
and 50's with a simplistic look
and then I bagged them all up
 with a pretty cookie tag
These 50's were really fun to make, especially since they were in my favorite colors!
Hubby and I are off for a quick bike ride... have a great evening!

Watermelon Cookies, New Cookie Cutters and Free Printable Cookie Tags

I bought a watermelon outfit for little Abigail and have been really anxious to make watermelon cookies ever since. I had SO much fun with this set! I finished them at 3am this morning and was squealing in delight that they came out just as I had hoped.

My favorite is this bear eating watermelon. I love her. I named her Wendy the watermelon eating bear. You can find her and the other cookie cutters in this set here in my Etsy shop.
You have my permission to copy the design when you buy my cookie cutter, just right click on this photo showing the outlined design and save it for your own use.

This is Willow the watermelon eating bear

and a regular watermelon slice

and a watermelon slice with a bit out of it - because you know, it's so yummy, how can you resist?

 and a watermelon triangle

and a full watermelon that you just picked up from the grocery store and you're excited to cut into

and then I threw in a pretty butterfly to go along with the summer watermelons

and I felt like I must have a 5-petal flower to go with this set too

and then I bagged up all the cookies with a fun watermelon cookie tag
and then I created a blank (took my info off of it) watermelon cookie tag file for you too! You can download it by clicking on the photo below:

Thanks for being my inspiration for watermelon cookies little Abigail!

Now you know you want to go make some watermelon cookies too...
