Lego Cookies and Vacation

I'm going to CookieCon in a few days! I bought my ticket 5 months ago and I can't tell you how many times I've talked myself out of going due to nerves. I have trouble meeting my idols and I have so many cookie gals that I idolize and trouble with crowds and getting out of my comfort zone. And then there's the whole glaze icing thing and wanting to fit in with the royal icing gals. Staying home in my yoga pants surrounded by cookies seems very appealing. But I know that stretching ourselves is a good thing. And I had a gal offer an olive branch and invite me to room with her. She promised to be my buddy for the weekend, so I wouldn't be afraid. How can you say no to that? Honestly with how busy I've been lately, I'm at the point of just being excited to get a vacation. And it's a vacation with 450 cookie gals! Seriously! What could be better??

So I just finished my last set of cookies. I was asked to make Building Block Movie character cookies. So I ran with it and this is what I came up with.

You can get the building block cookie cutters by clicking HERE
You can download the tutorial cards by clicking HERE
and download cookie bag toppers HERE
I started with Lord Business

and then Emmet

and Benny

and of course WyldStyle Lucy

and Bad Cop

 and Batman

and then I added in Vitruvius

 the whole gang
all bagged and ready to go to the party

Are you going to CookieCon? If so, come say hi. I'll be the one with pink in my hair or I might be the one trembling in the corner...!

  5. Cristin I understand how you feel. I have been to cc before snd am still nervous. I have a question about the Lego set which is fabulous. When you show the outline cookie do you start that way and then flood over that. Thanks.

    1. Thank you Lorraine. There's two ways that they can be done... you can make the face yellow (or whatever the case may be) and then do the face details on top after it's dried. Or you can outline first and then fill after the outline has dried. It's easier and faster to just do the details on top of course, but since I've gotten used to doing tutorials, I always outline first and then flood so the cookie gals can utilize the outline for their own cookies. You have to be very precise with your flood icing doing it this way (especially with glaze icing) and it takes longer, but I do like the look rather than the details standing out on top of the flooded cookie. Either way works perfectly fine though.

  6. Hi Cristin,

You are so going to enjoy yourself once you get there. Don't worry, you're not the only one that feels the same way. It sounds like you're going to meet so many wonderful people. Just enjoy!
You will come home with so many great ideas. As one of your admires, I can hardly wait to see what you've learned.

    1. Hi Mrssilva7, If you send me an Etsy message from my shop after Sunday, I can give you information on the cookie cutters. I'm out of town this weekend at CookieCon, so my shop is closed while I'm away. Thanks! Cristin Either an Etsy conversation or an email to:cristinscookies@gmail.com
